Accordingly, the number of remaining pediatric cardiologists is five.
They are attached to Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital, Sirimavo Bandaranaike Children’s Hospital, Jaffna Teaching Hospital and Kurunegala Teaching Hospital.
It is said that there should be at least twenty pediatric cardiologists in the country.
Due to the acute shortage of pediatric cardiologists, the only option has become to transfer patients to Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital.
Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital has had four pediatric cardiologists, two of whom have now left the country.
