He mentioned that the concerned suspect had maliciously carried out these smear campaigns with the support of a politician.

In a program held in Panadura, the minister further said that the names will be revealed in the future.

A program to educate the community police committee members of Panadura Division was held under the chairmanship of Public Security Minister Mr. Tiran Alas and Acting Inspector General of Police Mr. Deshbandu Tennakoon.

The Minister of Public Security, Mr. Tiran Alas, who spoke there,

“A person was arrested by the CID yesterday. Four hundred thousand was in the hand of that person. People who use this social media network to slander us. A politician gave this money to that person. When you go to the box of that car and change the dollars and have the money in hand, you will be arrested. We, the government, the Inspector General of Police, all of them are being slandered on social media. That is why we have brought this online safety bill. Even if it is to topple governments, this social media is doing the trick. Today I say…. This bill is a problem only for those who mishandle social media.”
