Army Deploys Teams Across Districts as Heavy Rains Hit Sri Lanka

Army Media Spokesperson Brigadier M. J. R. S. Medagoda announced that plans have been made to deploy army teams to every district in the country to respond to any emergency situations that may arise due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions.

Meanwhile, the District Disaster Management Center reported that more than 250 individuals belonging to 35 families in the Kandy District have been affected by the ongoing inclement weather.

In addition, the latest weather forecast issued by the Department of Meteorology at 8:30 a.m. today indicated that heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm is expected in several areas across the island.

Accordingly, the department stated that heavy showers may occur in certain locations within the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, Northwestern, Southern, and Northern provinces.
