National People’s Force Leader Anura Dissanayake Colombo said that the two government bank accounts managed by the Treasury are being maintained at the Bank of Ceylon and the People’s Bank and both banks are making profits while the overdraft is up to 7,000 billion rupees. The facts revealed by the leader of the National People’s Force, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, about the total expenditure that the government is prepared to incur for this year are confirmed by Annex II at the end of the 2024 budget speech. It states that the expected total receipts excluding borrowings is Rs 4,164 billion and the borrowing requirement for this year is Rs 7,350 billion.

But according to the official document called Budget Estimates 2024, the total expenditure of the government this year is 7,826 billion rupees.

In the conference, it was further stated that if it were not for the two state banks, the government would not be able to get bank overdraft facilities of 7,000 billion rupees from the private sector banks, despite the fact that there are 325 billion rupees as non-performing loans of the Bank of Ceylon and 300 billion rupees as non-performing loans of the People’s Bank and 625 billion rupees. He revealed. It was pointed out that a huge part of these non-performing loans has been raised by non-recovery given to people in the political underworld.
