In the conference, it was further stated that if it were not for the two state banks, the government would not be able to get bank overdraft facilities of 7,000 billion rupees from the private sector banks, despite the fact that there are 325 billion rupees as non-performing loans of the Bank of Ceylon and 300 billion rupees as non-performing loans of the People’s Bank and 625 billion rupees.
