The 2025 Budget has allocated Rs. 20 billion to SriLankan Airlines for the repayment of its loan’s principal and interest.
Delivering the budget speech, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake announced that Rs. 10 billion will be designated for capital repayment, while another Rs. 10 billion will cover interest payments.
The president emphasized that once the government settles the airline’s debt service costs, the national carrier will bear full responsibility for ensuring its profitability.
