Mayantha Dissanayake, Member of Parliament of the Samagi Jana Balavega, has decided to resign from the position of Chairman of the Parliament’s Finance Committee.
Mr. Mayantha Dissanayake has also informed Samagi Jana Balawegaya General Secretary Mr. Ranjith Madduma Bandara about that decision.
Mr. Mayantha Dissanayake is going to officially step down from the position of Chairman of the Finance Committee after informing Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena of his decision in writing.
However, the next question is if the government once again nominates an opposition MP during the election of the new chairman of the State Finance Committee.
Samagi Jana Balawega has already decided to appoint Dr. Harsha de Silva.
