According to Auditor General WPC Wickramaratne, the National Audit Office’s investigations into the National Drug Regulatory Authority and the Ministry of Health revealed a wealth of information about the use of substandard and unregistered drugs.
Mr. Wickramaratne stated that it was also discussed in the Parliament’s Public Business Committee.
The Auditor General stated that information about the use of substandard drugs is constantly being reported from various areas.
A special investigation has been launched based on the available information.
The Auditor General also stated that a special investigation into the computer system related to the purchase and distribution of medicines has already begun.
He mentioned that it is nearing completion.
He also stated that the report would be submitted to Parliament soon.
