The United States has extended its support to Sri Lanka’s ongoing relief efforts, with the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham Sri Lanka) donating medicines valued at over Rs. 500,000 to the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS).

US Ambassador Julie Chung, who participated in the official handover, said she was “proud to join today’s handover as the American Chamber of Commerce donated 500K+ LKR worth of medicines… to be distributed to people affected by Cyclone Ditwah at five displacement sites.”

She commended AmCham Sri Lanka for responding swiftly, noting that the contribution was made possible through the organisation’s strong private-sector network and collective outreach.

The SLRCS will distribute the medical supplies across five identified displacement centres, where thousands of families continue to recover from the widespread destruction caused by Cyclone Ditwah.

This latest support adds to the growing international assistance arriving in Sri Lanka as the country works to restore essential services, ensure medical care, and help affected communities rebuild.
