The ‘State Secrets’ column has received word that Sajith, following the establishment of the new Sahab alliance, is gearing up for another significant campaign against the government. This time, his focus is on unveiling alleged widespread corruption scandals within the current administration. Notably, Sajith aims to expose various instances of malfeasance, including the purported large-scale corruption in alcohol production, which he previously highlighted in Parliament. He criticized the government for imposing taxes on professionals while turning a blind eye to the cronies of liquor companies, resulting in a significant loss of excise revenue amounting to 50 billion. Moreover, Sajith intends to name individuals involved in these corrupt dealings, including a parliament member and others.

In addition to the liquor industry scandal, Sajith has obtained information about large-scale fraud in transactions within government institutions, such as the oil corporation. Despite being away from Colombo due to the Sakwala program, Sajith promptly communicated with Sahab and non-Sahab MPs to discuss these revelations. During these discussions, it became evident that numerous serious frauds and corruptions had occurred within the government, including a significant land-grabbing operation in the Eastern Province.

Following these revelations, it was decided that Sahab and non-Sahab MPs, along with legal experts and civil society activists, would collaborate to establish a centre dedicated to exposing government corruption to the public. Various individuals, including MPs and lawyers, were identified to be part of this initiative. It was emphasized that a location separate from the Sahab headquarters should be designated for this purpose, ensuring accessibility for individuals willing to provide information on government fraud and corruption.

The stage is set for a new alliance aimed at shedding light on the state’s secrets and holding accountable those involved in corrupt practices.
