The government took steps to increase the VAT from 15 per cent to 18 per cent and due to this, the tax for telecommunication services will also increase by 3 per cent.

Accordingly, the telephone companies have announced that the charges for all services such as call charges, internet service charges, pay TV service charges etc. will be increased.

The charges for some prepaid cards have not been increased and steps have been taken to reduce the data quota provided.
