The airport and the airline company deny the reports that there were obstructions at the Katunayake airport due to an official visit of the Prime Minister.

Its chairman retired Major General Mr. G.A. Chandrasiri mentioned this while addressing a press conference.

There were media reports that British national Ajahn Brahma Thero, a world-renowned Dharma preacher who had visited Sri Lanka on May 31, was delayed for several hours at the Katunayake airport and was inconvenienced when he returned from Sri Lanka.

The airport authorities stated yesterday that there was a busy atmosphere at the special visitors’ terminal when the Prime Minister and a number of the country’s leaders arrived to go abroad.

Due to the delay caused by this, he was refused to board the flight to by the Singapore airlines.

Because of this, through the intervention of the airport service staff, he was quickly facilitated by SriLankan Airlines to travel to Australia and he said during a speech in Australia that Sri Lanka should create an environment where such a situation does not occur again.
