At the invitation of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has appointed Acting Ministers for four key ministries as he embarks on a visit to the UAE to attend the 2025 World Government Summit.
The Acting Ministers have been appointed for three ministries directly under the President’s portfolio—namely, the Ministry of Digital Economy, the Ministry of Defence, and the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development—as well as for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism. This latter ministry is headed by Minister Vijitha Herath, who is accompanying the President on the trip.
The following individuals have been appointed as Acting Ministers:
- Acting Minister of Digital Economy: Deputy Minister of Digital Economy, Eranga Weeraratne
- Acting Minister of Defence: Deputy Minister of Defence, Aruna Jayasekara
- Acting Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development: Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando
- Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism: Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment, Arun Hemachandra
