The Nuwara Eliya Police found the bodies of a young married couple who were shot dead in a room in a house in Nuwara Eliya last night (07). (Sri Lanka Latest News)
In the preliminary investigations, it has been revealed that the husband shot his wife and killed himself due to a family dispute.
The husband named Anton Das (28) and the wife named Nathan Rita (26) have died.
The two deaths took place in a room of the house located at No. 05, Toppas, Nuwara Eliya at around 10.30 last night (07).
In relation to the telephone message received by the Nuwara Eliya Police Station regarding the incident, a team of Nuwara Eliya Police Station officers searched the house and found the dead bodies of the young couple in a room of the house and a small firearm made in this country.
At present, the bodies are under police protection at the scene of the incident. The magisterial inquest is scheduled to be held today (08).
