A thief who stole from Ranils home was sentenced

Two persons have been sentenced for breaking into President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s private residence and stealing items from the house. Sri Lanka Latest News

On July 9, 2022, a model of a sailing ship in a bottle was stolen from the President’s residence by a resident of Embillawatta Road, Boralasgamuwa, and he was charged and sentenced today (01) after pleading guilty. Accordingly, the man’s sentence of 6 months with hard labour was suspended for 5 years.

On the same day, a resident of Abeyratne Mawatha, Boralasgamuwa stole a metal jackfruit from the President’s private residence, and a one-year sentence with hard labour has been suspended for 5 years. He has also been fined Rs 1,500, and if he does not pay it, he has been sentenced to one month’s rigorous imprisonment.
