Based on information that the suspect was staying in a rented house in Sapugaskanda area, a team of Kandana police officers went to the area to arrest the suspect.
Accordingly, while going to raid the house and arrest the suspect, the suspect fired several shots at the police from inside the house.
Kandana Police stated that the police also retaliated and the suspect died in those attacks.
The police said that the deceased was a 49-year-old man.
The dead body has been deposited in the Kiribathgoda hospital mortuary and the Sapugaskanda police are conducting further investigations.
