A special delegation of the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission visited the Colombo Remand Prison to check on Wasantha Mudalige!

Decided to summon Prison officials to Human Rights Commission immediately!

A special delegation of the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission visited the Colombo Remand Prison to check on remanded inter university student association convenor Wasantha Mudalige.

The delegation included Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission Commissioner Dr. Nimal Karunasiri, its Director Nihal Chandrasiri and two others.

The Human Rights Commission said in a statement that the commission visited the detention center where Mr. Wasantha Mudalige was held and checked his detention.

Accordingly, the Human Rights Commission has informed the prison officials about steps to be taken to improve the detention conditions and the Human Rights Commission officials have also inquired about the food provided to the detainees and how they are prepared.

The prison officials are to be summoned to the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission to inquire about the facts identified in this investigation.
