The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for strong winds and rough seas. Sri Lanka Latest News

The notification issued at 3.30 am today (27) will be effective for the next 24 hours.

Accordingly, the Department of Meteorology also informs the multi-day fishing and marine communities operating in the Arabian Sea area to be more careful.

The department announces that due to this, very strong winds may occur and sea areas may be very rough.

Meanwhile, the Department of Meteorology also says that there will be rain from time to time in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.

A few rains may occur in Matale and Hambantota districts.

In the western slopes of the central hills, in the northern, north-central and north-western provinces and in the districts of Trincomalee, Hambantota and Monaragala, the wind is blowing at times per km. Gusts of 40-50 will occur.
