A protest march against electricity bill heading towards Colombo from Divulapitiya: Heavy Police presence seen along the road I Sri Lanka Latest News

Several organizations, including the Electricity Users Association, are holding a march against the illegal electricity bills, and currently, strict police protection has been deployed in and around Divulapitiya. Sri Lanka Latest News

Roadblocks have been prepared in the roundabouts of the city and the police have been deployed in small groups at every intersection.

A special anti-riot team, a team of army troops and a group of police special task forces were seen established at the Divulapitiya Stadium.

Dhammika Sanjeeva, the National Secretary of the Electricity Users Association, said that today we can see whether the Police Ordinance Act or the Constitution is more powerful.

Negombo Superintendent of Police Mr Palitha Amaratunga announced a prohibitory order through loudspeakers saying that the march was illegal, but the marchers started moving forward despite that.
