It is reported that it has been decided to appoint a parliamentary special committee to find out and investigate whether the privileges of the members of parliament have been violated by the activities of the former members of the Election Commission and make appropriate recommendations. Sources related to the ruling party also state that the decision will be taken at the Parliamentary Affairs Committee which will be held this morning (July 17) under the chairmanship of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.
The proposal for this, which has been submitted by 14 MPs including MP Sampath Athukorala, has been included in the supplement related to the agenda of the Parliament as an indefinite proposal.
