Regarding the proposed Anti-Terrorism Bill, the Prelates of Trinikayas have sent a letter to President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
By focusing on the existing problems and public interests of the country, creating a broad social dialogue and informing that it is appropriate to remove inappropriate clauses in this bill through an expert panel.
The letter further states that due to the abolition of the basic elements of democracy in the proposed Anti-Terrorism Bill, the citizens’ right to freedom of expression and the right to protest peacefully, there has been strongly opposed in the Sri Lankan society.
This letter has been forwarded to the President by the chief priests of Asgiri, Malwathu, Amarapura and Ramanya sects.
