A father of a 16-year-old girl who was allegedly sold his daughter to a moneylender who financed his gambling facility which he ran in his home with the help of his wife, was apprehended by Agalawatta police child and women’s protection bureau.

According to police, this girl, who lives in the Agalawatta area, has been molested by this moneylender for over a year.

This crime was exposed after her aunt (mother’s younger sister) discovered a mobile device that this money lender had secretly given to the girl.

Two years ago, one of the girl’s uncles also molested the child, according to police.

The suspected father was apprehended yesterday (30), while the money lender and uncle had fled the area.

This suspect, a father of two daughters, had been running this gambling establishment in his house for some time, and the money lender, a 38-year-old married man from the Kalawana area, had visited this house several times to lend money.

According to police, the suspected father traded his daughter for sex in exchange for the money he received from the money lender.

According to police, the mother did not consent to the crime.

The police also say that no consent has been received from the mother for this crime.
