The People’s Bank introduced a state-of-the-art payment collection system for the Ministry of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reform. Sri Lanka Latest News

Through this, the convenience of paying fines and other payments imposed by the courts through digital payment methods such as debit and credit cards will be provided to the public.

The MoU for this purpose was recently signed between the Secretary of the Ministry of Justice Vasantha Perera and the Chief Executive Officer/General Manager of People’s Bank Mr. Clive Fonseka. The Minister of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms, President’s Attorney Dr Wijayadasa Rajapaksa, Minister of State, Anuradha Jayaratne and President of People’s Bank Mr Sujeewa Rajapaksa participated in this event.

This collaboration between the People’s Bank and the Ministry of Justice is a great leap forward in public service, improving efficiency and transparency. The main objectives of this are to find solutions to the need for formal and easy processes in the legal field and to offer a more comfortable experience to the public in the payment of money.
Key features of this new payment solution are;

■ Digital Convenience: Instant and easy settlement of court fines and other payments without the use of cash, using popular digital payment methods such as credit and debit cards.
■ Enhanced Transparency: Ensures transparency throughout the entire payment process.
■ Efficiency: As this is a digital process, the time taken for payment of fines is significantly reduced.
■ Secure Transactions: All transactions are highly secure so sensitive financial information is protected.

Through the use of new technology, the administrative work of the government staff will be more efficient and easier, and with the processing of payments electronically, cash handling, data entry and accounting tasks will also be minimized.
