Mr. Sajith Premadasa, the opposition leader, requested a two-day debate in the Parliamentary Affairs Committee.
The leader of the opposition pointed out that since there has been strong opposition in the country regarding the postponement of the local government elections, it is important to have a broad discussion in this regard.
Thus, this debate will be held as a debate during the adjournment of the House.
The Committee on Parliamentary Affairs met today (1) at 1.30 pm at the Parliament Complex under the chairmanship of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.
