After a passenger bus collided with the Kotaleeya Bridge in Manampitiya and toppled into the river, eight people were killed and several others were injured.
According to Police Media Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa, a bus travelling from Polonnaruwa to Kattankudy collided on the Kotaleeya Bridge in Manampitiya and toppled into the river.
According to police, several passengers on the bus were injured in the accident and are being treated in hospitals.
However, sources at Polonnaruwa Hospital confirmed that eight people were killed in the incident.
