An elderly woman was fatally shot by two unidentified individuals who arrived on a motorcycle and fled the scene.
The tragic incident occurred in the Bogahawewa area, within the Padaviya Police Division, last night (05).
The 73-year-old victim, a resident of Bogahawewa in Balayawewa, succumbed to her injuries shortly after being admitted to Padaviya Hospital for treatment.
Police believe a T56 firearm was used in the attack. However, the motive for the shooting and the identities of the suspects remain unknown.
The Padaviya Police are continuing their investigations into the incident.
