It has been 19 years since the Tsunami disaster in Sri Lanka, which killed around 31,000 people and left around 4000 missing. Sri Lanka Latest News

According to the reports of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, the total loss caused by the tsunami is one billion US dollars.

The government took measures to build tsunami towers to warn people to evacuate in case of a tsunami again.

But 19 years after the tsunami, 57 of those 77 towers have become inactive. The BBC Sinhala Service has based this video on information obtained from the Disaster Management Center under the Freedom of Information Act.

Meanwhile, the Disaster Management Center says that if people need to evacuate in the event of a disaster, a system will be started from today to give the message through mobile and landline phones.
