50 Wild Elephants Die from Electrocution in 2024: CEB Urges Public to Report Unauthorized Electricity Use
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has announced that approximately 50 wild elephants have tragically lost their lives to electrocution so far this year.

In an official statement, the CEB explained that these incidents occurred due to unauthorized tapping of electricity from the board’s supply lines.

To address this critical issue, the CEB has implemented several measures to curb the illegal use of electricity. However, the board emphasized that public cooperation is crucial in ensuring the effectiveness of these initiatives.

The CEB urges the public to report any instances of unauthorized electricity usage by contacting their emergency hotline at 1987 or 0112118767.
