A tense situation arose during the budget debate following a statement related to the plantation sector.
According to the final count, 13 members voted in favor of the budget, while 17 members voted against it.
All 12 members of the ruling faction, including the Chairman, voted in support. Meanwhile, members representing the United National Party, the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, the Sri Lanka United Front, the Democratic People’s Front, the All-India Power, as well as independent members, voted against the budget.
