2024 – Budget Proposal in brief… Budget 2024 I Sri Lanka Latest News

  • Government Servant Living Expense Allowance Rs. 17,800 up to Rs. 10,000 upwards
  • Government pensioners’ monthly living expenses allowance increased by Rs.2,500 to Rs.6,025
  •  In 2024, three times the amount spent in the previous years for the social security program will be spent on relief.
  • To fix the deficiencies in the system of giving a monthly allowance of Rs. 4,500 to pregnant mothers and make this program more systematic, Rs. 10 billion
  • A food and lodging allowance with appropriate adjustments for the 3 groups of police officers
  • Distress loan facility for all government employees from 1st January 2024 as before
  • Widow and orphan contribution up to 8% from next April
  • Disabled and kidney allowance up to Rs.7500/=
  • Senior Allowance up by Rs.1000/=

  • For the 10-year program to provide English literacy to all by 2034, Rs. 500 million
  • Proposals to re-introduce the Saksha Sisu Insurance Scheme
  • Suggestions to grow other crops on non-cultivated paddy lands
  • In order to facilitate the increase of fish harvest in the North Sea, Rs. 500 million

  • 1.5 billion rupees for the development of school cricket and providing necessary facilities at the provincial level
  • The construction of the Kadavata to Mirigama section of the Central Expressway is under Chinese aid, and the section between Galagedara and Kandy is under Japanese aid.
