It is stated in a report submitted by the Department of Buddhist Affairs to the Parliament that one thousand eight hundred and ninety monks have been ordained in the year 2022. Sri Lanka Latest News

According to Section 41 of the Buddhist Temples and Temples Ordinance No. 19 of 1931, the Novice Upasampada Therors were recorded.

Accordingly, 3286 novices have been registered from January 1 to December 31, 2022. Upasampada has issued 1831 and 154 monk ID cards. Also, according to the data of the Department of Buddhist Affairs, 1890 monks have been issued income certificates.

According to the Buddhist Temples and Temples Act, all monks who enter the monastic life and are ordained must register with the Department of Buddhist Affairs. From the date that Ordinance came into force until December 31 of last year, one hundred sixteen thousand two hundred and eighty six (116286) novice documents and fifty nine thousand six hundred eighty five (59685) subsampling documents have been registered.
