Apart from that, about 5000 other doctors have passed the necessary examinations and are fulfilling the necessary qualifications to go abroad, said Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe, the media spokesperson of the Government Medical Officers’ Association.
Dr. Chamal Wijesinghe has said that doctors who go abroad earn about ten times the income of a doctor in Sri Lanka, and they enjoy a high quality of life in those countries, and that is the main reason why doctors leave the country.
