11 billion will be set aside for the presidential election! Sri Lanka Latest News

As a presidential election is scheduled to be held next year, an amount of 11 billion rupees has been allocated to the Election Commission through the 2024 Appropriation Bill to be submitted to Parliament this month. Sri Lanka Latest News

Constitutionally, the presidential election should be held by October next year.

According to the 2024 Appropriation Bill, the government expenditure is 3,860 billion rupees.

This is an increase of 203 billion rupees compared to 2023. The estimated cost in 2023 is 3,657 billion rupees.

In the Appropriation Bill 2024, the largest amount has been allocated for the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government. That is 886 billion.

The second largest amount has been allocated to the Ministry of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policy. That amount is 723 billion.

The third highest amount is allocated to the Ministry of Defense. The amount is 322 billion.
