Parliamentary sources report that the inaugural session of the 10th Parliament was conducted in a notably simple manner, foregoing traditional elements such as the Tri-Forces salute and the rendition of the Jayamangala Gatha.
Parliamentary Secretary General Kushani Rohanadeera stated that specific instructions were given to minimize ceremonial proceedings for this event. Traditionally, the opening of a new Parliament includes the Tri-Forces salute and the Jayamangala Gatha, but these customs were omitted this time.
Rohanadeera explained that the President, upon arrival at Parliament, would proceed directly to the designated dressing room. After spending a few minutes there, the Parliament bell would signal the commencement of the session, and the President would then be escorted to the Chamber.
The simplified approach marks a departure from the usual ceremonial traditions associated with the inauguration of a new Parliament.
