Helmed by Atlee, Jawan stars Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi and Sanya Malhotra among others. The film has already sold over 2 lakh tickets for opening day.
Shah Rukh Khan’s much-awaited film Jawan is gearing up for its big release on September 7. Directed by Atlee, the film is poised to deliver a massive opening, which is evident from the advance booking for its first day. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Jawan has sold 2,00,454 tickets worth Rs 6.84 crore for Friday, in less than 24 hours after tickets went on sale. The film’s trailer was released on Thursday.
The Hindi version of Jawan has already minted Rs 1.12 crores in the National Capital Region (NCR). Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Bengaluru collected between Rs 50-65 lakhs. The advance booking for Jawan (Tamil version) is a bit low and the film has sold 3,365 tickets. Jawan has sold 1,097 tickets for the Telugu version. Shah Rukh’s Pathaan sold approximately 1,71,500 tickets at around the same time in the run-up to its release. Jawan is expected to sell approximately 3 lakh tickets for opening day within 24 hours.
Trade analyst Girish Johar wrote, “A massive trend alert already.. #Jawan advance ticket sales (with Day 1 yet to close) will be a RECORD SETTER ADVANCE … already #Pathaan is being overtaken as we write this. Around 1.75L tkts in National Chains & 3L all over is being eyed !!”
At the film’s grand pre-release event in Chennai, Shah Rukh wished everyone in Tamil and said “Marana Mass Atlee! Attakasamaana Vijay Sethupathi. I have come here only for the reason that I want to learn from here. People keep praising me, but that doesn’t mean anything to me. Learning is at all matters. And I learned a lot here.”
SRK added, “Choreographer Shobi made me dance like a mad man. I told him I can’t dance like Rajinikanth or Thalapathy Vijay. I can’t even dance like Atlee. But he made me dance a lot. Insha Allah, hope we will be able to perform our best. And maybe, the people of Tamil Nadu will adopt us as their own.”
Jawan is produced by Red Chillies Entertainment. The film also stars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi among others. Shah Rukh made a resounding comeback earlier this year with Pathaan, the biggest film of his career and the biggest Hindi film of all time.
