People’s Bank has once again made arrangements to present a special commemorative gift to children on their first day of school. Accordingly, this special gift is presented upon opening a People’s Bank Sisu Udana Account, with the objective of inculcating the habit of saving from an early age while extending warm wishes to children as they embark on their educational journey.
People’s Bank has been conducting this programme for many years, and one of its distinctive features is the active involvement of the Bank’s staff, who, whenever possible, visit schools to personally present these gifts. Further information regarding this initiative can be obtained from the nearest People’s Bank branch.
The Sisu Udana Account was introduced by People’s Bank in 1996 with the aim of instilling the value of thrift among students from a young age, while contributing to the development of a financially disciplined future generation. Through this initiative, the Bank has successfully fostered a culture of saving among schoolchildren aged between 6 and 18 years.
In addition, as part of its commitment to supporting education and recognising academic excellence, People’s Bank awards special prizes to students who successfully pass the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination. Financial rewards are also presented to students who achieve outstanding results at the General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level (O/L) and Advanced Level (A/L) examinations.
Today, the highest number of children in Sri Lanka maintain their savings accounts with People’s Bank. In addition to earning interest, these young account holders are entitled to numerous rewards and benefits based on the balances maintained in their accounts. As a responsible and people-centric financial institution, People’s Bank remains committed to securing their future by offering a wide range of financial solutions that support their educational and personal development up to higher education.
