Nawaloka Hospitals conducts Medical Camp in Kalutara to celebrate World Heart Day 2022

Celebrating its commitment to ensuring healthy heart function among its patients and every Sri Lankan, the country’s foremost private healthcare provider Nawaloka Hospitals hosted a Medical Camp at the Nagoda Hospital in Kalutara on September 29, 2022, to celebrate and raise awareness on World Heart Day 2022.

The Medical Camp was conducted under the supervision of Consultant Cardiologist Dr. Wasanthi Rathnayake, and the event saw a promising active participation from doctors, hospital staff as well as patients and individuals present at the occasion.

The keynote speech was delivered by Senior Consultant Cardiologist Dr. Ruwan Ekanayake, who was present alongside Dr. Bathiya Ranasinghe and Dr. Disna Amarathunga, resident consultants at Nagoda Hospital.

“We are on a constant journey, learning and sharing knowledge and expertise on more advanced and new technologies and procedures, with regards to maintaining a healthy heart, for a healthy life. There is no better way we could’ve celebrated this year’s World Heart Day other than hosting this Medical Camp and sharing our knowledge and providing our feedback on questions patients and intrigued individuals may have. I would like to thank the hospital staff and doctors from Nagoda Hospital, Kalutara, for giving us the opportunity to spread awareness on heart-related discussions,” noted Dr.Jayantha Dharmadasa Chairman, Nawaloka hospitals PLC.

Lectures on heart disease and its prevention were hosted with an emphasis on maintaining healthy lifestyles, and following the initial introduction by Dr. Wasanthi Rathnayake, patients were registered for the hospital’s routing programme.

A triage assessment was conducted for patients awaiting coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG), as patients and participants were also explained on the surgery’s procedures and offered a special package. Initial assessment including BMI, BP and RBS were conducted among all other patients at the occasion.

Nawaloka Hospitals entered Sri Lanka’s healthcare sector in 1985, and proceeded to dominate the private healthcare sector in the country. The launch of the hospital and the overwhelming response it received from the people demonstrated a long felt need for superior healthcare in a pleasant environment. The Hospital was a pioneering initiative, established under the Chairmanship of Late Deshamanya H. K. Dharmadasa, to be a centre of excellence in high technology diagnostic and curative facilities. Driven by the Vision to be the Hospital of Tomorrow, the medical institution has come to be known as a centre of excellence and a preferred healthcare institution in the country.
