The country’s largest and fastest-growing primary care chain Medihelp Hospitals, recently commenced operations at its new healthcare facility in the historically significant city of Kelaniya, thereby marking its entry to the Gampaha District. With its easily-accessible, new address at No. 625, Kandy Road, Kelaniya, the fully-fitted primary care centre will cater to the community of Kelaniya and surrounding towns with a broad scope of affordable, high quality healthcare services offered by an experienced, qualified team of consultants and healthcare professionals.

The ceremonial opening, held on 21st January, 2023, was attended by Prof. Janaki Hewavisenthi, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine – University of Kelaniya, the board of directors and top management of Medihelp Hospitals, along with a host of distinguished invitees and members of staff.

The new four-storey facility houses a fully-fitted OPD, ETU, laboratory, pharmacy, and dental clinic as well as facilities and equipment to accommodate x-rays, US Scans, Echocardiography, physiotherapy, optometry services, and specialist consultations. It is made complete with spacious, modern waiting areas and large car park accommodating over 60 vehicles.

All patients are in the care of a highly competent team of qualified and experienced doctors, nurses, paramedics and support staff, who are geared with the latest equipment and advanced technology to provide an unparalleled portfolio of services.

Commenting on the recent opening, Medihelp Hospitals Chairman Leslie Wijesiriwardana stated, “We are delighted to step into the Gampaha District with our new facility in Kelaniya, which is a historically and geographically significant city in Sri Lanka. Marking the opening of our 15th branch in such a notable location is a privilege. Ultimately, our accelerated growth islandwide, particularly into underserved regions such as this, is driven by our deep desire to ensure that all Sri Lankans have access to affordable, quality healthcare services when they need it the most, particularly as we pass this economically challenging period in time.”

Continuing on the same note, Medihelp Hospitals Executive Director Chandika Wijesiriwardana said, “A high-quality healthcare facility has been a long-felt need in this region in Kelaniya. Therefore, we are delighted to introduce this spacious, modern facility equipped to cover a gamut of healthcare requirements. We look to expanding the centre’s utility to further elevate the scope of care offered to this community in the months to come.”

Medihelp Hospitals Chief Operating Officer Nishantha Jayamanne stated, “Medihelp Hospital’s move into the Gampaha District with a facility in Kelaniya stands testament to its underlying vision of ensuring quality healthcare accessibility to the most underserved communities in Sri Lanka. With its prime location on the Kandy Road, we have been able to offer a comprehensive healthcare service with the support of a large panel of eminent specialist consultants.”
