Gamer.LK, the premier Esports events organiser in Sri Lanka, concluded its 5th edition of Women’s Cyber Games, (WCG) the largest female-focused Esports event in Sri Lanka. The two-day event took place recently where female players competed in 14 titles in a physical LAN event.

Female gamers from across the island lined up to participate in the following titles: Clash Royale, Cricket Sixes, CS:GO, DOTA 2, FIFA 23, League of Legends, Mario Kart, Mortal Kombat 11, Valorant, Call of Duty 4, Call of Duty Mobile, Mobile Legends, Free Fire and PUBG MOBILE. The event had a prize pool of Rs.100,000 distributed amongst the winners of the 14 game titles.

WCG witnessed an exceptional display of skill and talent by the female Esports athletes that took part. Darshika Wijesena demonstrated her mastery by securing the top slot in Call of Duty, while Senumi Ekanayake emerged victorious in Valorant Death Match. Dulhani Madusha’s outstanding performance in Clash Royale won her the title and Shanaz Dilum won Mortal Kombat 11 by showcasing complete dominance. Himasha Shalini’s exceptional gameplay and strategic prowess captivated the audience as she secured victories in both League of Legends 1v1 and Mario Kart. PUBG MOBILE saw Shamen Edward rise to the top, while Dilshani Mandira emerged triumphant in Free Fire. Prasangi Poorna clinched the victory in Call of Duty Mobile.

Since 2015, Gamer.LK has consistently incorporated specialized activities for women in its major competitions, resulting in a notable rise in participant engagement. In 2019, Gamer.LK embarked on a journey by launching the Women’s Cyber Games, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at providing female gamers with a dedicated platform to showcase their exceptional abilities. Since then, this event has rapidly evolved into one of the country’s foremost sporting spectacles for women.

Raveen Wijayatilake, CEO of Gamer.LK, spoke about the importance of the initiative, saying, “Gamer.LK’s Women’s Cyber Games provide a dedicated platform meticulously designed to empower and showcase the exceptional skills of female Esports athletes. This represents our resolute dedication to breaking down barriers, enabling more female participation and elevating the collective narrative of women in Esports as they set their sights on securing victories on the global stage.”

With the resonating success of the WCG, Gamer.LK has once again reaffirmed its role as a trailblazer in shaping the future of Esports in Sri Lanka. The journey of female Esports athletes continues as anticipation builds in the array of events that Gamer.LK has planned, leading up to next year’s edition of WCG.
