Life insurance market leader Ceylinco Life has strengthened its footprint in Sri Lanka’s deep south with the opening of a new purpose-built, eco-friendly branch in Ambalantota, becoming the first life insurer in the area to operate from its own company-owned building.

Located at No. 207G, Tangalle Road, Ambalantota, the two-storey building is the 35th such company-owned branch building of Ceylinco Life. Purpose-designed to prioritise customer comfort while minimising environmental impact, the new branch reflects Ceylinco Life’s long-term commitment to sustainable infrastructure development, the Company said.

The modern facility has a total gross floor area of 3,200 square feet, provides parking for 10 vehicles and was completed over a period of 11 months. The building has been constructed using precast concrete technology introduced by the National Engineering Research and Development Centre, offering significant advantages over traditional construction methods, including a 10 to 15 per cent cost saving, a 20 per cent reduction in construction time, high thermal comfort and lower long-term maintenance costs.

Designed in line with Ceylinco Life’s green building concept, the Ambalantota branch operates with a 15 kW off-grid solar power system, enabling a zero electricity bill and eliminating the need for a diesel generator. The building also incorporates a rainwater harvesting system and a waste-water recycling system that supplies treated water for toilet flushing and gardening, while ensuring minimal use of pipe-borne water.

Energy efficiency is further enhanced through the use of energy-efficient air conditioning and lighting systems, maximum utilisation of daylight, natural ventilation, and minimal use of timber in construction. Existing trees on the premises have been preserved, with additional tree planting undertaken to enhance the natural environment around the building.

Beyond its environmental credentials, the new Ambalantota branch underscores Ceylinco Life’s strategy of investing in company-owned, purpose-built premises that deliver a superior customer experience in welcoming, comfortable and sustainable surroundings, while reinforcing the insurer’s presence in key regional centres across the country.

Ceylinco Life has been the market leader in Sri Lanka’s life insurance industry for 21 consecutive years, offering innovative insurance solutions that protect and de-risk the ambitions of policyholders. In 2025, the Company was ranked the most valuable insurance brand in Sri Lanka and the 22nd most valuable brand overall by Brand Finance. It was also voted the People’s Life Insurance Service Provider of the Year for the 19th consecutive year in 2025, reaffirming its status as the brand trusted by millions. The company has also been adjudged Sri Lanka’s Brand of the Year twice within the past five years, and has been recognised among the 10 Most Admired Companies in Sri Lanka by the International Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka (ICCSL) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).
