The proposal to revise the retirement age of judges is scheduled to be presented to the Cabinet today.
Government’s Decision Amid Opposition to Proposal
At a time when the opposition has openly launched a campaign against the proposal to extend the retirement age of judges, attention has focused on the decision the government intends to take regarding the matter.
According to information received, the government has decided to proceed with and complete the programme to extend the retirement age of judges, despite any opposition or challenges raised against it.
Although the government initially planned to implement the process of extending the retirement age of judges gradually and step by step, it has now decided to expedite the process due to certain actions taken by the opposition. Accordingly, the government is preparing to present the relevant proposal to Parliament without delay and secure its approval.
As the first step in this process, the government presented a concept paper on the matter to the Cabinet last week. The proposal received approval from all members, and the government has already made arrangements to hold further extensive discussions on the issue in the future.
