The Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court today (29) ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to report to court on July 8 regarding the progress of investigations into a complaint filed against former President Ranil Wickremesinghe and former Presidential Secretary Saman Ekanayake over the alleged misappropriation of public funds.
Additional Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris, appearing in connection with the complaint, informed the court that steps would be taken to file indictments against the suspects before the next hearing date.
He further stated that authorities are also examining whether former President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s wife, Maithri Wickremesinghe, should be named as a suspect in the same complaint.
