Police sources report that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) questioned former IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon for approximately an hour yesterday (08) concerning allegations that two underworld criminals were staying at his residence in Kandy.
The inquiry is linked to the investigation into the shooting and murder of Hiran Kosala, the manager of the Ambalangoda showroom of a leading electrical appliance company. Kosala, who was contesting the Ambalangoda Municipal Council as a team leader representing the Samagi Jana Balawegaya Party, was fatally shot. During the investigation, it emerged that the two alleged criminals were staying at Tennakoon’s Kandy residence.
Earlier, a team from the Police Special Task Force conducted a raid on the house as part of an operation to apprehend the suspects. Following the operation, the CID questioned Tennakoon for about an hour regarding the matter.
