The Petroleum Distributors Association has announced that all fuel station owners across the island will stage a silent protest in front of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation tomorrow (06) at 9:30 a.m., citing several ongoing issues.
Executive Committee Member D.V. Shantha Silva stated that the primary reason for the protest is the difficulties faced by fuel station employees under the odd-even fuel distribution system.
Speaking at a media briefing, he noted that employees have been experiencing significant hardship as a result of this system.
He further explained that, under the fuel price formula, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and other corporations receive a 6% operating profit. However, although fuel stations were previously granted a 3% dividend, it has been removed by the new governing authority of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.
Additionally, Mr. Shantha Silva pointed out that fuel stations are encountering serious operational challenges due to the failure to deliver ordered diesel and petrol on schedule.
