Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe stated that Sri Lanka will not face a fuel shortage simply because it did not receive oil supplies from Iran.
He pointed out that Sri Lanka imports oil from countries other than Iran. However, he noted that a serious issue could arise if Iran were to bomb oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and disrupt maritime traffic by preventing ships from passing through the route.
He further emphasized that no such incident has occurred so far.
Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe made these remarks during a meeting with social media activists held at the Malpara political office in Colombo.
