Addressing the 78th National Independence Day celebrations, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake announced that he would invite Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa to collaborate in building the country.
The event was attended by prominent religious leaders, including the Maha Sangha, as well as Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, Members of Parliament, Ministers, Chief Justice Preethi Padman Surasena, Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, Secretaries to Ministries, State Officers, Commanders of the Tri-Forces, foreign ambassadors, high commissioners, and other invited guests.
