Mrs. Shiranthi Rajapaksa, the wife of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, has been informed to appear before the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) on the 3rd of next month, Sri Lanka Latest News reports.

According to reports, she has been instructed to appear before the FCID at 9.30 a.m. on the 3rd.

Earlier, Mrs. Shiranthi Rajapaksa had been notified to visit the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division on the 27th of last month to provide a statement.

However, through her lawyer, she had informed the police that she was unable to appear on that date and requested a period of two weeks instead.

As no medical report was submitted in support of her inability to appear, she has now been informed once again to present herself before the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division on February 3.

Meanwhile, National Organizer of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna and Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa has also been informed to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on the 3rd.

Previously, MP Namal Rajapaksa had been summoned to appear before the CID, but as he was not in the country at the time, he had requested an alternative date. Accordingly, this fresh notification has been issued, reports say.
