A complaint has been filed with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) requesting a fair investigation into the use of the ondansetron vaccine in question.
The complaint was lodged by the husband of a woman who is suspected to have died after receiving the ondansetron vaccine while undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID).
According to reports, two patients who were receiving treatment at the NIID for fever died suddenly on the 11th and 14th of this month. It has raised serious concerns as both patients were reportedly not in a critical condition at the time of their deaths.
Following these incidents, strong suspicions emerged that the deaths may have occurred due to complications arising from the administration of the ondansetron vaccine. In response, the Ministry of Health took immediate steps to suspend the use of the vaccine.
While the Ministry of Health is currently conducting investigations to determine whether the deaths were caused by the use of the vaccine, the husband of one of the deceased women filed a formal complaint with the CID today, seeking justice in relation to the incident.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa stated that if any irregularities are identified in the drug procurement process, appropriate legal action will be taken in accordance with the law.
