Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has endorsed the appeal by leading international economists calling for substantial debt relief for Sri Lanka.
In a social media post, Sajith Premadasa said he fully supports the call and expressed hope that President Anura Disanayake and his administration would have the courage and capability to achieve these objectives.
The statement follows a NewsWire report that over 120 global economists, including Nobel laureate Joseph Stiglitz, have urged the suspension of Sri Lanka’s debt payments amid the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah.
