Pakistan’s Prime Minister has expressed profound sorrow and solidarity with Sri Lanka following the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah, affirming that Islamabad stands ready to assist Colombo in its hour of need.

In an X message, the Prime Minister said he received a call from his “good friend,” President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on Tuesday evening, during which the two leaders discussed the tragic loss of life and widespread destruction across Sri Lanka.

He conveyed his “deepest sorrow” over the loss of lives and property, extending heartfelt condolences to the families affected. He also praised the “swift and courageous efforts” of Sri Lankan authorities and rescue teams working under extreme and hazardous conditions.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s longstanding friendship with Sri Lanka, the Prime Minister noted that the country has “always stood in full solidarity” with the island nation, especially during moments of hardship.

He announced that Pakistan is immediately dispatching urgently needed humanitarian assistance to support Sri Lankans affected by the cyclone, adding that Islamabad will “continue to offer whatever help we can” as Sri Lanka moves toward recovery.

The message was accompanied by Pakistan–Sri Lanka flags, symbolising the close ties between the two nations.
