The most iconic and luxurious property in the W15 Collection, W15 Hanthana Estate, has once again risen to prominence by receiving the prestigious Michelin Key distinction—the hotel industry’s equivalent of a Michelin Star—during the inaugural celebration recognizing the world’s most outstanding hotels in 2025.
Out of a highly distinguished selection of more than 2,000 hotels worldwide, Sri Lanka secured ten places, firmly positioning the island nation on the global map of luxury hospitality excellence.
Nestled within an elegant colonial bungalow in Hanthana, W15 Hanthana Estate offers an exceptional experience featuring luxuriously appointed suites, the renowned W15 hospitality, breathtaking views, a soothing climate, exquisitely crafted cuisine, and the most attentive personalized care. Every stay promises to transform moments into cherished memories.
W15 Collection’s Founder and Visionary, Hardy Jamaldeen, remarked,
“Receiving a Michelin Key is a humbling reminder that what began as a dream to redefine Sri Lankan hospitality now stands among the world’s most refined experiences. It is not just a recognition of excellence; it is a celebration of the passion and people who give W15 its spirit.”
The Michelin Group, which introduced the Michelin Guide in the 1920s to recognize and recommend top hotels across Europe and Asia, launched the Michelin Key distinction in 2024 to honour the crème de la crème of global hospitality. Entry into the prestigious Michelin Guide is based on exemplary service standards, design, architecture, and personality, while the Michelin Keys identify the very best among them.
This year, 2,457 hotels worldwide were recognized with Michelin Keys, with the first global unveiling held on October 8, 2025, at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
Following Sri Lanka’s recent recognition by Condé Nast Traveller’s 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards as the seventh best country in the world for food, the nation continues to shine among the world’s leading hospitality destinations.
